What Amico Can (and Can't) See When You Connect Your Bank

21 Aug 2026

Amico can't see balances, other accounts, or into your broader financial position. Just what we need to pass the transaction.

Connecting a bank account to any app understandably comes with questions. What is being accessed? What can and can't the app actually do once it is connected? With Amico Repay, the boundaries are clear, and they are set by the banks themselves, not by Amico.

Asking for approval, every time

When you set up Amico Repay, you are being asked to approve exactly what is going to happen, and that approval takes place through your own banking app, not through Amico. All Amico does is pass through a specific request: this is the consent being asked for, over this particular timeframe, for this loan, for this amount, and this is what we are asking permission to draw.

That structure matters. The request is specific and limited every time, tied directly to the terms of your loan agreement, not a general or ongoing permission that could be reused for something else.

What Amico cannot see

Just as important as what Amico can do is what it explicitly cannot. Amico cannot see your account balances. It cannot see any of your other accounts. It has no visibility into your broader financial position, your spending, or anything outside the specific consent you have given for this loan. That level of restriction is deliberate and built into the framework from the banks' side, not something Amico has chosen to self impose as a nice to have.

A framework built by the banks, not around them

This is worth repeating because it is easy to assume otherwise: this security framework has not been constructed by Amico. The banks themselves have built this system and are the ones making sure it operates securely. Amico simply connects into infrastructure that already exists, already has strict rules, and is already trusted by the banking system.

That distinction should be reassuring. Amico is not asking you to trust a new, unproven security model built by a small fintech team. It is asking you to trust the same secure, bank built framework that governs other transactions you already rely on, applied specifically to your family loan repayments.

How Amico helps

Once your loan is documented through Amico Document, Amico Repay uses this same bank built consent framework to request authorisation for exactly the repayments you have agreed to, nothing more. Automatic, reliable repayments, without ever losing sight of who is actually in control of your money. That control has never left your hands.
